No real nap today, but we DID dress ourselves. The pink thing is her swimsuit. Goes great with rainboots. Pants? Completely unnecessary.

A rare non-Annie post

Colin spent this past weekend at a handbell conference, and I got some video.  Enjoy!

I-chi-ro! I-chi-ro!

She randomly started chanting this while we were walking along.  (She’s on my back, but I couldn’t point the camera at her or she’d have stopped.  :-) )

Floody floody

Colin’s upstairs with the kiddo trying to get her to sleep and I’m listening on the monitor. She’s very Not Tired and singing "Floody floody Lord said Noah floody floody" as loud as she can. I TOTALLY don’t know how Colin isn’t cracking up, because I am!

Annie-isms

A couple of cute Annie-isms as of late.

  • This morning she sat down with her “computer” (an old broken netbook), opened it up, and placed her fingers on the keyboard.  She was very intent as she said, “Tante Kari oatmeal.  Uncle Chris oatmeal.  Claudia oatmeal.  Uncle Travis oatmeal.”  At that point, curious, I asked her if she wanted oatmeal for breakfast.  She looked at me like I was crazy and said, “Computer!  Oatmeal Uncle Travis!  Oatmeal!”  It took me a second to realize that she was talking about email.
  • For whatever reason, anything tiny that moves along seemingly under its own steam is either a bug or a feather.  She’s pretty good at distinguishing between alive and not living—bugs are alive and feathers are not.  So a leaf blowing across the sidewalk is a feather, but an ant is a bug.  Anyway, one of the cats had left a small clump of fur next to the piano in the living room.  Annie poked at it and declared it “kitty feather.”  Hey, just as long as they don’t try to fly.
  • We’ve been working on names lately.  She knows that Daddy’s name is Colin and Mommy’s name is Kristie (and if she’s in a chattery mood with you, feel free to quiz her on this—we want her to know for safety reasons), and she knows her name is Annie.  I’ve been working on her full name as well.  She was gabbling away in the car this morning and talked about “Colin at work,” so I took the opportunity to quiz her on our names, which she got right.  Then I asked her what her full name was.  Her response: “Daddy’s Joy Walker.”  Well, there IS that!
