April showers

April saw some nice weather and some oddly-wintery weather.

We kept warm with hugs.

P1110400

And busy-ness.

P1110403

Wearing jammies that used to be Mommy’s!  (If I can dig up the picture of me in these, I’ll post it as well!)

P1110407

We stared forlornly out the window and waited for the rain to stop.

P1110410

When the rain did stop, we went to see the April flowers that the showers brought!

Riding on Mommy’s back.

Trying out the new boots.

Someone got a little muddy.

Family shot.

“Bird!  Up there!”

And a scene that is as April as the tulips…

March without the madness

We had a beautiful and unseasonably warm March around these parts.  The kids fell asleep in the car while we were running errands one day, and we ended up at the beach!

Sand on the bare toes feels nice!

February!

Tante Kari gave us a pass to the zoo, so we decided to try it out one Saturday.

We thought the giraffes were pretty nifty!

We’ve been busy lately!

We don’t get many updates of the newsy sort around here, but as I’m busily procrastinating, I figure I have time for one today.  :-)  This should just about cover what we’ve been up to since, oh, January.  I’ll be writing all the posts for the last few months right now and then setting them to automatically post one per day for the next few days.   Just know when you read them that they were all written Sunday afternoon.  :)

We did a couple of fun things in January.  The big one was a trip to Victoria, BC… but the pictures from that must be on Colin’s camera, because I don’t seem to have any.

The other was Mariners Fanfest.  This annual event at Safeco Field allows people to come hang out at the ballpark before the season starts and engage in several fun activities.

Running the bases:

It’s amazing to see these and remember what a new walker she was at that point—she’s so confident now!

P1110133

Tagging up at second.

P1110150

Heading for third!  (Alas, this was as far as we could go.)

P1110155

P1110159

Waiting for her postgame interview?  Watch out for the shaving cream pie!

Visiting the Moose in his house!

More of our adventures soon!

18 months!

A little belated, but that’s life.

Annie at 18 months:
* Now prefers to drink from a regular cup with no lid. She does pretty well at this, but it does take some monitoring so that she doesn’t create “messy” on the floor.
* Favorite food? She’s a toddler–her appetities are varied and fickle. I’d have to say that TJ’s Greek yogurt is the one thing that she’ll always eat, though.
* Still has a definite desire to contemplate new activities before trying them. This is no surprise, as both of her parents have the same tendency.
* Walks and runs and is working on climbing everything she can.
* Consistently uses three and four word sentences that include nouns, verbs, prepositions, and sometimes adjectives. If she’s tired or distracted, though, she’ll revert to “that” or “this.”
* Talks in her sleep. It’s usually funny, sometimes annoying, and occasionally downright confusing.
* Sings several songs. Has been known to break out into song wherever she’s at. She’s definitely my child.
* Loves “music music!” Her favorite songs are currently “Recorder!” (a tarantella played on the recorder that I have a recording of), “Jungle” (REM’s recording of “In the Jungle”) and “Boom-de-ah-da!” (from the Discovery Channel commercial–I have the mp3).
* Knows quite a few signs now, mostly related to zoo animals.
* Knows several letters on sight. Does pretty well with shapes. As far as colors, everything is “lellow.”
* LOVES to read and knows the words of several of her favorite books. I caught her “reading” one to her baby doll the other day–she perched herself on a pillow on the floor, sat her doll next to her, opened the book, and started explaining the pictures. That’s my kid!
* Is in 12-18 month clothes and a size M diaper cover
* Weighs 20lbs 11oz (6th percentile), is 30.25″ tall (15th percentile), and has a head just above the 50th percentile. Having said that, I don’t think the nurse measured her head size or height accurately, as Annie was pitching a fit at the time. :-p We’ll see in another three months.
* Goes down for the night between 7:30 and 8:30 and prefers Daddy to put her to bed.
* Is going through a bit of a separation anxiety phase. Alas.
* Thinks her friend Grady is the greatest now that he can walk and she can chase him!
* Loves to “nuggle” her animals.
* Can put on her own coat if you lay it out for her. Can put on her own shoes as long as they’re her Crocs. Does pretty well at undressing herself and prefers “clothing optional” play.
* Likes to sit on the potty, even if nothing happens.
* Takes one nap a day that’s anywhere from 1.25 hours to 2 hours.
* Is definitely a toddler and definitely a joy!
