3/4 of 1!

I can’t believe my baby’s 3/4 of a year old! 9 months (last Saturday) stats:

* Weighs about 16 pounds and I’m going to guess is about 27″ long. We’ll find out at her WBV whenever I get around to scheduling it.
* Is in a 6-9 month for most things, but fits 3-6 month shirts. Still in a size small diaper cover.
* Goes down for the night between 7:30 and 8.
* Is up for the day between 6 and 7.
* Is quite proficient at army crawling and can move faster than I can. Alas.
* Can pull up on most anything and is starting to “cruise” the furniture.
* Has (as of the past week) TWO toofies! (The bottom two front ones.)
* Identifiably and consistently says “ca” (cat) for any animal.
* Eyes are currently hazel.
* Bangs hang in the eyes unless we clip them back.
* Likes to take things out of boxes and put them back in.
* Has figured out how to use tools to accomplish tasks (we realized this when she took two cans, put them on their sides, and used one to push the other along).
* Claps and can clap along to “A-N-N-I-E” (sung to the tune of “BINGO”).
* Waves bye-bye (been doing this since six or seven months, but I don’t remember if I wrote it).
* Gives low-fives, but isn’t too sure about high fives.
* Can find your nose or mouth when asked… if there’s nothing more interesting to be doing.
* Has broadened her pallette recently, eating everything from sushi rolls (crispy salmon skin, no raw fish yet) to chicken curry to dim sum.
* Current favorite toy is keys, but none of those dumb fake plastic kind, thankyouverymuch!
* LOVES the “Bob” book and song. We read/sung it 14 times in a row the other day. :-p
* Impossibly, is still getting cuter every day!

Some days we hang around at home…

Some days we hang around at home…, originally uploaded by wa_bookworm.

… And some days we meet former Mariners. :-D

(I forgot to post this here! Annie was pretty intrigued by the tall dude. Mommy was just happy to have the picture as a souvenir!)

Cuteness du jour.

And lastly for today, your gratuitous cuteness.

(The white stuff in my mouth is gum; she’s quite fascinated by the process of blowing bubbles.)

Okay, that’s all for tonight!

Mobility is not overrated.

Annie is great about making sure the kitties get some exercise.

(You’ll notice at this point that the cat looks less than thrilled.)

Adventures in eating

One of the things Annie’s had to figure out lately is what is food and what isn’t. Everything goes in her mouth, of course. The adventure comes in figuring out what *stays* in her mouth and what gets spit out again.

The golf ball, while easy to handle, isn’t quite as tasty as one might wish. Rejected.

Legos are all sorts of useful, and they have those bumpy things on them! But again, not so tasty. Rejected.

Rice is fun to play with and even more fun to decorate with, and it doesn’t taste half-bad. Accepted.

That milk stuff. Tastes better fresh, but from the bottle is sometimes fine as well. Accepted.

Dirt. Mommy made all sorts of interesting sounds when I crammed it in there, so it was worth a shot. But the taste is… lacking. Rejected.

Bleenas (Russian pancakes). Floppy, turn into a satisfying paste in the mouth. Accepted.

Altoids gum tin. Has a curiously strong smell. Nice and cool on the gums. But a little too hard to chew, and not much taste. Rejected.

Water. Not much substance, but fun to pour. Tentatively accepted.

Watermelon. Now we’re talking! Accepted!

Barbeque food–burger, corn on the cob, and fruit salad. Decorates well, and quite tasty. Accepted.

8 months! (Somewhat belatedly)

Annie at eight months:
* Weighs somewhere between 15 and 16lbs.
* Is still in a size small for her diaper covers.
* Wears a 6-9 month size in most clothes, but several of her 3-6 things fit.
* Goes down for the night between 7:30 and 8.
* Is up for the day between 6 and 7.
* Wakes… many times in that 11 hours (darn teething!)
* Loves to sing and will sometimes warble along. She’s not particular about the tune she chooses, though.
* Wants to be DOWN DOWN DOWN and moving on the floor.
* Is a skilled belly-crawler (the baby gates are up now!) and just KNOWS that there’s a future in that on-all-fours thing, if only she could figure out what it was!
* Has pulled herself up once and thinks there might be a future in that as well.
* Loves table food and can pick up and eat anything, from tofu to a single grain of rice.
* Currently will do anything for a raspberry, loves strawberries, and finds rice puzzling if not fun to decorate onesself with.
* Favorite toys are anything that makes noise when shaken and anything that’s not supposed to be a toy: laptop power cords, cell phones, zipper pulls, coasters, etc.
* Loves books but insists on turning pages herself when she’s ready, thankyouverymuch!
* Needs someone to help her fall asleep, because being left alone is BAD BAD BAD BAD!
* Chatters, says “mama, dada, nana, gaga” (but not with any intent, although we’re not sure about the “mama” thing) and loves to blow raspberries. We’re trying to teach her to wait on those until we’re watching the Yankees.
* Loves water and doesn’t mind it on her face/head/whatever.
* Puts everything in the mouth. It’s all tasty.
* Is still leaving us hanging on the eye-color-issue.
* Has long hair on the top and sides which we try to keep clipped back.
* Gets cuter every day!
