The only thing that could make this better is if she was on a leather chair.

New Pix on New Camera

It’s been a while since we had a full post with Annie pix, so I’ll take a shot at putting one together.  Annie is getting close to the 8-month mark, and both Kristie and I wonder how our little girl has gotten so big so quickly.  We’re still waiting for the ever-elusive teeth to come in (even though they’ve shown signs of coming since month 4), but other than that, Annie has transitioned from the “lump of goo” stage (Vogel, 2005) to being a squirmy little person.

You want pictures?  First, you have to wade through a little bit of geekiness.

d300Yesterday afternoon, I headed out with my parents to look at cameras (their graduation present to me).  I ended up getting a Nikon D300 (from Best Buy of all places — they beat Amazon’s price) and a AF 60mm f/2.8D Micro Nikkor lens (managed to find an “old style” one at Omega Photo – got the last one, too!).  My Dad also had a couple of older slower AF lenses from his film camera, and I will put those through their paces sometime this week to see what they’re capable of.

I’ve been very happy with the 60mm lens — and camera — so far.  There are a few strange changes with the way certain buttons work from the D200, which I am most familiar with, but aside from that, the camera takes great pictures.  One of the best things so far is that the image on the LCD closely matches the image as it exists on the camera.  This is one of my gripes with the D200 — the LCD is really bright, and pictures look a lot better on the little screen than they do when pulled over to the computer.

Enough geekiness.

It’s amazing to see how much she’s grown…

“Good afternoon, thank you for calling Annie Joy Enterprises, how can I help you?”

“Pick me up?  Pleeeeease?”

Finally, one last gratuitious cute baby shot:

Found at a consignment store: a wooden ride- on ferry boat. Because every kid should be captain of something. :-)

Annie’s first drawing

She’s gotten very interested in making ‘;pictures'; in the shower steam lately, so I figured I’d see what she thought. She was minimally entertained.

Although she likes everything, so I guess it shouldn’t be surprising.

Made this to hold the cute hair clippies I got off Etsy. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!

Somebaby just crawled to the cat for the first time. Said cat was not impressed. Creature is now a couple feet away from crawler with a suspicious look on its face.
